The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission’s new I-276/I-95 interchange will have a ribbon-cutting on September 21. As one of the design firms, SEI is invited to the ceremony.

August 2018
SEI is approached to prepare a scope of service for monitoring the finger joint reconstruction in the Walt Whitman Suspension Bridge in the City of Philadelphia. The sensors will include strain gages, accelerometers, and sound meters.

May 2018
SEI started remote Structure Health Monitoring of the links connecting the stiffening trusses to the Pennsylvania tower in the Walt Whitman Suspension Bridge in Philadelphia. The devices and system are exactly the same as those installed in the New Jersey tower. The monitoring of both towers will continue until June of 2019.

April 2018
PennDOT District 5-0 selected three consultants for NBIS inspection of the bridges in six counties within the District. SEI is on all three agreements. The prime consultants are Prime, Larson Design Group, and Pickering Corts, and Summerson.

March 2018
As a sub-consultant of Pickering, Corts, and Summerson, SEI is selected again for the new statewide underwater inspection agreement.

November 2017
PennDOT District 5-0 selected three consultants for Project Management in six counties within the District. SEI is on two of the three agreements. The prime consultants are McCormick Taylor and Gannet Flemming. SEI’s tasks include review of bridge design submissions. This is the second time SEI is on the same type of agreements.

August 2017
SEI starts shop drawing review services for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission Southern Beltway Project-US Route 22 to Interstate 79, Section 55B in the Washington County. The prime consultant is Stantec.

July 2017
PennDOT District 6-0 has awarded two open-end contracts to the Transystem Team (E03817 and E03977). SEI will provide engineers to work at the District’s office on an as-needed basis to review bridge rating calculations and inspection reports.

June 2017
SEI started Structure Health Monitoring of the links connecting the stiffening trusses to the tower in the Walt Whitman Suspension Bridge in Philadelphia. Twelve (12) strain gages, four (4) tiltmeters, two (2) displacement gages, and four (4) temperature were installed to monitor long term behavior of the link under temperature changes . The data are being collected remotely in the SEI office through wireless connection. The monitoring will continue for eight (8) months to determine if the pins connecting the links are frozen due to corrosion.

PennDOT District 6-0 has awarded the Montgomery County Bridge Inspection contract to the AECOM Team (E03796). SEI will provide bridge inspection services. This contract will replace the previous E02794 agreement. SEI is a subconsultant to AECOM for both agreements.

PennDOT has awarded the Eastern Region Sign Structure Inspection contract to the Pickering Corts & Summerson Team (E03945). SEI will provide sign structure inspection services.

December 2016
PennDOT District 6-0 has awarded the Philadelphia County Bridge Inspection contract to the Pickering Corts & Summerson Team (E03796). SEI will provide bridge inspection services.

SEI submitted PS&E package for the Chestnut Street Bridge Rehabilitation agreement (E00660) in the City of Philadelphia. SEI completed rehabilitation design of the Chestnut Street Masonry Arch Bridge over the CSX tracks and Masonry Arch Bridge over 24th Street. SEI will continue to provide construction consultation and shop drawing review services.

September 2016
SEI submitted PS&E package for the Penn Street Arch Bridge Rehabilitation agreement (E02384) in the City of Reading. SEI completed rehabilitation design of the closed spandrel arch spans and completed load ratings for the open and closed spandrel arch spans. SEI will continue to provide construction consultation and shop drawing review services.

PennDOT District 6-0 has awarded the Local Bridge Inspection contract to the PCS Team (E03654). SEI is the only subconsultant. This contract is a continuation of the existing contract (E03214).

The Gannett Fleming Team received Notice to Proceed for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission 2-5-096 Agreement.   The agreement will perform total reconstruction design of north-east extension between mile posts 53 and 57 between Quakertown interchange and Lehigh interchange. SEI is a subconsultant. 

February 2016
PennDOT District 8-0 has awarded the Complex Bridge Inspection contract to the Larson Design Group Team (E03460). SEI is the only DBE subconsultant. This contract will require inspection, evaluation, testing, and design of some complex bridges in District 8.

Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission has awarded the tunnel inspection contract to the HDR Team. SEI is a subconsultant. This contract will require inspections of tunnels owned by PTC.

PennDOT District 6-0 has awarded Chester County culvert inspection contract to the TPD Team (E03553) and Philadelphia and Delaware County culvert inspection contract to the GPI Team (E03555). SEI is a subconsultant on both contracts.

SEI engineers, Colin Drager and Leon Lai, will present a paper “Rehabilitation Design of the Passyunk Avenue Bascule Bridge” at the 2016 International Bridge Conference to be held at National Harbor in June, 2016.

December 2015
PennDOT has awarded a new statewide underwater Inspection contract to the PCS Team (E03480). SEI will provide a licensed engineer for field supervisions. 

September 2015
SEI submitted the final design plans of the Passyunk Avenue Bascule Bridge.  SEI was responsible for structure rehabilitation design of the bascule spans and assist mechanical and electrical design. AECOM was the prime consultant. SEI will continue to provide construction consultation services.

PennDOT District 6-0 has awarded the Bucks County Bridge Inspection contract to AECOM Team (E03378). SEI is the only subconsultant.

SEI is contracted (E02352) with PennDOT District 6-0 to perform load ratings for eleven (11) steel curved girder bridges using the 3-D finite element methods.  SEI will use the CSIBridge software and in-house developed procedure to perform load ratings.  The bridges include complex geometry and framing, some with steel box cross girders.

March 2015
SEI is invited to join the GF Team for the PTC 2-5-096 contract to perform the reconstruction design of the North-east extension between Milepost A-53 and MIlepost A-57. SEI will perform structure related services.

The McCormick Taylor Team is awarded the DCNR Delaware Canal Bridge Replacement/Rehabilitation contract. SEI is a sub-consultant.

September 2014
SEI received Notice to Proceed for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission MP 312-319 final design agreement. SEI is responsible for design of superstructure and partial substructure replacement of Bridge EB-731, 1,070' long of retaining wall, and 6,900' long of noise walls.

SEI is awarded a local bridge inspection contracts in PennDOT District 3. The prime consultant is Larson Design Group.

June 2014
SEI received Notice to Proceed for the Penn Street Arch Bridge final design contract.

SEI is awarded two local bridge inspection contracts in PennDOT District 6. The prime consultants are PCS and MT.

SEI is negotiating the final design scopes for the Chestnut Street and Market Street Rehabilitation in the City of Phildelphia in PennDOT District 6-0 and Penn Street RC Arch Bridge Rehabilitation in District 5-0. SEI started New Falls Road Bridge replacement design for PA Turnpike.
